Terrible!

I do feel terrible that I completely forgot about my blog!  A lot has happened this year.  We moved out of our rental and bought ourselves an acreage in a new community.  I went back to work 3 days per week.  The kids are all back in school.
I do not remember what my plan was for my planned blog post titled "Define Sin", so I will just leave that alone for now.
I'll be back

The Fourth Commandment

Pop quiz!
1) What is the fourth commandment?
2) What are the other 9 commandments?

Not sure?  How many of us claim to live by the scriptures and according to the 10 Commandments?  I don't think we can claim to live by the 10 Commandments when we don't even know what they are!

Well, here they are. They can be found in the book of Exodus chapter 20 or Deuteronomy chapter 5.

1)  ``I am יהוה  your Elohim who brought you out of the land of Mitsrayim (Egypt), out of the house of bondage.  You have no other mighty ones against my face.``

2)  ``You do not make for yourself a carved image, any likeness of which is in the heavens above, or which is in the earth beneath, or which is in the waters under the earth.  You do not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, יהוה your Elohim, am a jealous Ěl, visiting the crookedness of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing kindness to thousands, to those who love Me and guard My commands.``
3)  ``You do not bring the name of יהוהyour Elohim to naught, for  יהוהdoes not leave him unpunished who brings His name to naught.``
4) ``Guard the Sabbath day, to set it apart, as יהוה your Elohim commanded you. Six days you labour and shall do all your work, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of יהוה your Elohim.  You do not so any work - you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates, so that your male servant and your female servant rest as you do.  And you shall remember that you were a slave in the land of  Mitsrayim and that יהוה  your Elohim brought you out from there by a strang hand and an outstretched arm.  Therefore, יהוה  your Elohim commanded you to observe the Sabbath day.
5)  ``Respect your father and mother as יהוה  your Elohim has commanded you, so that your days are prolonged and so that it is well with you on the soil that יהוה  your Elohim is giving you.

6)  ``You do not murder.``

7)  ``You do not commit adultery.``

8)  ``You do not steal.``

9)  ``You do not bear false witness against your neighbor.``

10)  ``You do not covet your neighbor`s wife, nor do you desire your neighbor`s nhouse, his field, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, his ox, nor his donkey, or whatever belongs to your neighbor.``

A few weeks ago, I had the honor of spending the weekend with a dear friend of mine and we dove into the scriptures to study exactly what it means to `keep the Sabbath``.  It was awesome!

Based on our scripture study, these are the things we learned about keeping the Sabbath

Genesis 2:1-3
-The Sabbath is Holy (set apart)
-The Sabbath is blessed

Exodus 16:22-30
-The Sabbath is a day of solemn rest
-The Sabbath is done FOR יהוה .
-You will recieve no benefit from your work done on the Sabbath

On that note, a quick little story.  Good friends of mine own their own business, and up until a few years ago, they were open for business on the Sabbath.  They told me that they struggled with the idea of shutting down on the Sabbath, (which on the calendar is saturday, NOT sunday!!!).  But when they finally made the decision, and shut down for the Sabbath, their business DOUBLED!  So truly, we will necieve no reward for any work we do on the Sabbath!

-We are to stay in our own place on the Sabbath

Exodus 31:12-16
-Do no work on the Sabbath in order to keep the Sabbath holy
-The Sabbath is given as a sign between us and יהוה  that we will know he is יהוה  who sanctified us.
-Those who profane it will be put to death (those who treat it as ordinary will be put to death)
-Whoever does work on it will be cut off
-it is a covenant FOREVER (emphasis mine)

Exodus 35:3
-you shall kindle no fire in dwelling places on the Sabbath

Leviticus 16:31
-Afflict (deny) yourself on the Sabbath

Leviticus 23:3
-The Sabbath is a holy convocation (rehearsal)

Deuteronomy 5:12-15
-Keep the Sabbath as a remembrance that יהוה  brought us out from bondage

Numbers 10:31
-Don`t buy or sell on the Sabbath

I have come to LOVE the Sabbath.  When I first began keeping the Sabbath, it was out of obedience, a desire to begin keeping the commandments.  But I have really begun to appreciate it as a day of rest and scripture study.  Just this morning my husband pulled out the reading for today off of the Torah calendar, and my heart was filled with love for him.  I feel so blessed to have my husband and my children.  Life is good!!
On the sixth day (friday) I generally try to get all my housework done, and to get challa (sabbath bread) made.  We have a Shofar to blow to usher in the Sabbath in our home at the end of the sixth day at sundown, (though we rarely remember to blow it, something I hope changes really soon).  I love the sound when the shofar is blown!  As soon as the Sabbath begins we all just power down, stay home and relax, we do not travel anywhere, we do not cook or clean.  What`s not to love.  Seriously, I have no idea why anyone wouldn`t want to do this.

Do Not Think That I Have Come To Bring Peace.....

**Please NOTE:  I am not a big fan of pulling numbered sound bites from scripture and relying on them apart from the entire context of scripture.  I do so only as a platform to get us thinking about a topic.  I encourage you, please read your scriptures!! Always asking the Father for WISDOM!!***

Mat 10:34 "Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword,
Mat 10:35 for I have come to bring division, a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law –
Mat 10:36 and a man’s enemies are those of his own household.
Mat 10:37 "He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me, and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
Mat 10:38 "And he who does not take up his stake and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.
Mat 10:39 "He who has found his life shall lose it, and he that has lost his life for My sake shall find it.
Mat 10:40 "He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.
Mat 10:41 "He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward. And he who receives a righteous one in the name of a righteous one shall receive a righteous one’s reward.
Mat 10:42 "And whoever gives one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a taught one, truly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward."

This section of scripture gives me comfort when I am tempted to anger because of those who have mocked me for choosing to follow the Messiah Yahshua.  I have long been struggling with the popular concept of peace and unity (which the "CHURCH" brainwashed me with for so many years....ahem...father please forgive me for harbouring resentment)  amongst those who would call themselves brothers in Messiah, yet choose to live outside of the Torah (the first five books of the scriptures where the instruction or "law" is given.  Yahshua the Messiah tells us:

Mat 5:17 "Do not think that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets.1 I did not come to destroy but to complete. Footnote: 1The Law and the Prophets is a term used for the pre-Messianic Scriptures.
Mat 5:18 "For truly, I say to you, till the heaven and the earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall by no means pass from the Torah till all be done.1 Footnote: 1Lk. 16:17.
Mat 5:19 "Whoever, then, breaks one of the least of these commands, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the reign of the heavens; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the reign of the heavens.

The popular argument that is given is that it is not for us to judge.  Turns out, that may not be so! It is a loving act to guide a brother back to the narrow path which leads to everlasting life!!

2Th 3:14 And if anyone does not obey our word in this letter, note that one, and do not keep company with him, so that he is put to shame.
2Th 3:15 However, do not regard him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

Do not keep company with him.  Do not regard him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.  If there is division between those who choose to follow the scriptures, and the scriptures only - keeping the commandments- and those who live in the "CHURCH" with a "do as thou wilt for all has been redeemed" attitude, it is because the Messiah has said it must be so!!  See Romans16:17

1Co 5:1 It is commonly reported that there is whoring among you, and such whoring as is not even named among the gentiles, so as one to have his father’s wife!
1Co 5:2 And you have been puffed up, and did not rather mourn, so that he who has done this deed, be removed from among you!
1Co 5:3 For I indeed, as absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged the one who did this, as though I were present.
1Co 5:4 In the Name of our Master יהושע Messiah, when you are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Master יהושע Messiah,
1Co 5:5 deliver such a one to Satan for destruction of the flesh, in order that his spirit be saved in the day of the Master יהושע.
1Co 5:6 Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the entire lump?
1Co 5:7 Therefore cleanse out the old leaven, so that you are a new lump, as you are unleavened. For also Messiah our Passover was offered for us.
1Co 5:8 So then let us observe the festival, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of evil and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
1Co 5:9 I wrote to you in my letter not to keep company with those who whore.
1Co 5:10 And I certainly did not mean with those of this world who whore, or with the greedy of gain, or swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world.
1Co 5:11 But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone called ‘a brother,’ if he is one who whores, or greedy of gain, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler – not even to eat with such a one.
1Co 5:12 For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are inside?
1Co 5:13 But Elohim judges those who are outside. And put away the wicked one from among you!

Anyone who calls himself a "brother" yet keeps not the Torah (including the festivals *Note vs 7 + 8)  is to be judged and put away from amongst us.

Now I can testify to the freedom which following these words has brought me.  I have had very dear ones in my life....friends, family, who I have cut myself off from because of their urgent and ardent need to mock and persecute me (Him who lives in me!) and my family because of our choice to leave the "CHURCH" (meaning our choice not to fall prey to the corporate organization's philosophy and empty deceit according to the traditions of men, and not according to Messiah).
The testimony in me is that while I mourn the loss, I do NOT miss them!  I have shaken the dust from my sandals and taken my peace with me (Matt10:14-15).  And I will journey forth as a member of the body of Messiah, sharing the good news, and fellowshipping with those who also FEAR and LOVE the Father.

And so I go, still trying to hit the bulls-eye!

What I learned about Wisdom

It's been a while.  I got sort of distracted by life and haven't posted in a while.  I lost my best friend and I was hurting.  Oh well, I am here to share my thoughts now if anybody out there is reading!  And if not, that's ok too!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So what did I learn about Wisdom?  Well, it's definitely not what I expected.
First of all, wisdom cannot be taught.  It really boils down to: Do you have a love for the truth or don't you??
If you have a love for the truth, and a heart of obedience, wisdom will be imparted unto you!

"The fear of YHVH is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction."  Proverbs 1:7

Wisdom is always available, but so few crave it.

"Wisdom cries aloud in the street, in the markets she raises her voice;  at the head of the noisy streets she cries out;  at the entrance of the city gates she speaks:  How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple?  How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing and fools hate knowledge?  If you turn at my reproof, behold I will pour out my spirit to you;  I will make my words known to you."  Proverbs 1:20-23

In short, make up your mind.  Seriously.  Do you love the Father or don't you?  If so, then begin obeying him and searching out His truth.

Wisdom In Two Parts

Choose my instruction instead of silver,
knowledge rather than choice gold,
for wisdom is more precious than rubies,
and nothing you desire can compare with her.

Proverbs 8:10-11

What does it mean to be wise?  To have Wisdom?
